Achievements of Vietnamese students in recent international Olympics
In the period 2016 - 2020, in general, Vietnamese students participating in regional and international Olympic competitions achieved high results.
Among them, some teams have stable achievements and high rankings such as Math, Chemistry, Physics and Information Technology teams. Some students won Gold Medals for 2 consecutive years or achieved the highest scores.
In particular, in 2017, 34/37 students belonged to 7 groups.Regional and international Olympic teamswon prizes - achieved the highest results compared to previous years, especially in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

The team participating in the 2020 International Chemistry Olympiad achieved impressive results with 4/4 contestants winning Gold Medals, ranking 2nd in the world, just behind the United States. In 2020 alone, Vietnam had 24/24 contestants participating in regional and international Olympiads winning prizes (including 9 Gold Medals, 8 Silver Medals, 5 Bronze Medals and 2 Certificates of Merit).
According toMinistry of Education and Training, the achievements of Vietnamese students in regional and international Olympic competitions are due to several main reasons.
Firstly, there have been innovations in organizing national excellent student selection exams and training teams such as: Organizing national excellent student selection exams early to increase training time for teams participating in international and regional Olympic competitions; having specific training plans and programs; gradually approaching regional and international competition formats.
Second, we need to implement synchronous solutions to ensure objectivity, honesty, and correct assessment of students' level. Thereby, we can select the best students to participate in the teams.

Third, continue to maintain and supplement the policy of direct admission to universities and colleges for students who win national excellent student awards and give priority to sending students who win regional and international Olympic awards to study abroad, creating motivation for students and schools.
