(Baonghean.vn) - This is the latest decision of the People's Committee of Nghe An province and has received the attention of many parents and students. Increasing the quota by one more class will create opportunities for students with outstanding English skills.

On July 7, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2340/QD-UBND approving the supplement to the education development plan for the 2021-2022 school year. Accordingly, this school year, the additional increase in enrollment quota for grade 10 will be approved.Phan Boi Chau High School for the Giftedadd 1 class (35 students).

Admission objects are secondary school graduates with certificates of competency.EnglishInternational with a conversion score of 6.5 points or higher according to IELTS certificate.

Previously, according to the approved plan this year, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted recruited a maximum of 490 students. Of which, there were 385 students for 11 specialized classes and 70 students for 2 specialized classes of Natural Sciences and Foreign Languages (35 students per class). In addition, 1 class of students in the English specialized class was directly recruited to implement the Foreign Language Project of the Education sector.

From this plan, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted has considered students with IELTS certificates (or converted from other certificates) with scores of 6.5 or higher. Currently, according to the Department of Education and Training, there are 79 applications that meet these requirements.

In order to create opportunities for students with English proficiency and to encourage English teaching and learning in schools, the Provincial People's Committee's decision to add an additional English class for students with international English certificates is an opportunity for many students to be directly admitted and to study at the province's quality specialized schools.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Head of Secondary Education Department, Department of Education and Training also said: We are very happy because although Nghe An has just encouraged direct admission for students with foreign language certificates, the number of qualified students is quite large and that shows that teaching and learning English in high school students is increasingly focused on and invested in.

Regarding direct admission this year, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung also said: If many students have foreign language certificates with the same score, the department will consider admission based on the following sub-criteria: Total score of 3 subjects in grade 10 (without coefficient); English test score, total score of grade 9 English and results of participation in English exams and playgrounds.
