(Baonghean.vn) - On May 24, Vietnam recorded 187 new cases. Of these, 184 were recorded domestically and 3 were quarantined immediately upon entry.

The Ministry of Health on the evening of May 24 recorded 96 positive cases of nCoV, of which 95 were domestic cases in Bac Giang 44, Bac Ninh 31, Hanoi 13, Lang Son 6, Ho Chi Minh City 1 and 1 imported case was immediately quarantined.

On May 24, Vietnam recorded 187 new cases. Of these, 184 were recorded domestically and 3 were quarantined immediately upon entry. 73 people were declared cured, bringing the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the epidemic to 2,794. Two deaths brought the total number of deaths to 44. 96 new cases tonight were recorded from number 5309-5404.

At the meeting of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on May 24, Associate Professor Tran Dac Phu, former Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine, said that in industrial parks in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang, there are currently tens of thousands of F1s, "so there needs to be appropriate, flexible, and creative response measures, instead of following existing guidelines."

Bac Ninh has recorded 474 cases of infection; 37,000 F1 and F2 cases have been screened; of which 31,000 people are in medical quarantine. Bac Giang has recorded 980 cases of infection; 11,453 F1 cases have been traced. Mr. Phu cited that in a factory, when there is an infection, all workers are considered F1, must be tested with PCR samples, and quarantined.

"However, instead of applying such a mechanism, we need to classify F1 into high-risk groups, which are people working in the same department or workshop; F1 with low risk will be tested using a combination of methods such as single-sample PCR, rapid testing, and pooled samples. High-risk F1 must be quarantined centrally; low-risk F1 must be strictly quarantined at home like F2," Mr. Phu proposed.

Previously, at the meeting of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on the afternoon of May 21, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam also asked Bac Ninh and Bac Giang to "boldly conduct a small-scale pilot and consider expanding" the home quarantine of F1s. This pilot is applied when there are too many F1s that need to be quarantined.

According to Mr. Dam, the pilot will initially be applied on a small scale, with families who have housing conditions, ensuring distance from the surrounding area. People in close contact with positive cases (F1) will be quarantined at home, combined with monitoring by technology and neighbors and surrounding people.
