28 more community Covid cases; outbreak at K Hospital basically under control

(Baonghean.vn) - As of 6:00 a.m. on May 11, Vietnam had a total of 2,056 domestic cases and 1,433 imported cases.

On the morning of May 11, the Ministry of Health announced 28 more domestic Covid-19 cases at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, branch 2. Vietnam currently has 3,489 patients. As of this morning, the world has recorded over 159.5 million cases.

From 6:00 p.m. on May 10 to 6:00 a.m. on May 11, there were 28 new domestic cases recorded at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases (1), Bac Ninh (13), Vinh Phuc (7), Bac Giang (5), Lang Son (1), and Hai Duong (1).
As of 6:00 a.m. on May 11, Vietnam had a total of 2,056 domestic cases and 1,433 imported cases. The number of new cases from April 27 to present: 486 cases.

In the past 12 hours, the number of cases in the world increased by 597,988 cases, and the number of deaths increased by 7,074 cases. In Southeast Asia, 17,724 cases were recorded during the day, including: the Philippines increased by 6,846 cases, Indonesia increased by 4,891 cases, Malaysia increased by 3,807 cases, Thailand increased by 1,630 cases, Cambodia increased by 506 cases, Laos increased by 25 cases, and Singapore increased by 19 cases.

On May 10, Vietnam recorded 125 cases of community transmission, the highest number of cases per day since the pandemic began in 2020. In the previous days, the number of community infections also continuously "set records", with 92 cases recorded on May 9, 80 cases on May 8, and 64 cases on May 6.
Regarding the outbreak at K Hospital, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital, assessed that "the epidemic situation at the hospital has been basically controlled". The hospital has isolated the Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Department, departments and rooms. All medical staff, patients and relatives were tested twice and epidemiologically traced to isolate and quickly detect new cases.
More than 3,400 people are being quarantined at the hospital, 599 people have been tested for nCoV a second time, of which, 3 more suspected cases were discovered who were being treated with the positive patient at the Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Department. These three suspected cases were immediately quarantined, ensuring there was no risk of infection.

"Currently, the departments are still isolated independently. If more positive cases are detected, they will only arise in the Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Department," Associate Professor Quang said.

According to the Ministry of Health, K Hospital recorded 12 cases positive for nCoV. The hospital has 3 facilities in Hanoi, all of which have been quarantined since the morning of May 7.
