(Baonghean.vn) - Sang and Van lived together as husband and wife. When Van went to Nghe An to get a citizen ID card, Sang followed her and sold drugs.

Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just opened a trial of two defendants, Duong Van Sang (born in 1973), residing in Tam Lanh commune, Phu Ninh district (Quang Nam) and Nguyen Thi Van (born in 1980), residing in Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".

Sang and Van met and lived together as husband and wife at a boarding house in Tam Ky City (Quang Nam) since 2019.

After following his lover to Nghe An many times, Sang knew the source of drugs from the Mong people. Sang “revealed” this to his friend Dang Huu Ngan. After that, Ngan hired Sang to go to Nghe An many times to buy drugs but failed because Sang thought the wages were low.

In early June 2021, when she learned that Sang was about to follow his lover back to his hometown to get a citizen ID card, Ngan made an appointment to meet him to buy drugs. Like the previous times, Sang refused because the wages were low.

On June 13, 2021, Sang and Van returned to Nghe An. Upon hearing the news, Ngan also took a bus to follow them to buy drugs.

At a motel in Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district, Ngan gave Sang 155 million VND to buy 1.5 cakes of heroin, promising to pay 50 million VND for the work. Sang agreed, then invited Van to go buy a used motorbike to buy the "goods".

The next afternoon, Sang drove Van to the quarry area of Pha Danh commune and then went alone to meet the Mong people, giving them money to buy heroin.

At 4am on June 16, the Mong people called Sang to inform him that they had the “goods” and to set up a delivery location. Because they did not know the location, Sang gave the phone to Van to listen. Van knew this was the location to receive the drugs but still drove Sang to receive the heroin. The couple was arrested by the police with 370 grams of drugs on the way back.

At the trial, Van testified that he knew Sang was buying “dry goods” that is, drugs but did not say anything. Afterwards, even though he knew Sang was going to trade drugs, he still went along. Van cried many times, asking for a lighter sentence. Defendant Sang also honestly admitted his crime.

After considering the role of each defendant in the case, the panel sentenced Duong Van Sang to 20 years in prison and Nguyen Thi Van to 15 years in prison.

As for Ngan, this person did not admit to giving money and hiring Sang to buy drugs. Due to the lack of documents and evidence, the investigation agency did not have enough basis to prosecute Ngan.
