Will the 2017 national high school graduation exam and university entrance exam be 'easier'?

The Minister of Education and Training affirmed before the Prime Minister and the Government that the national high school graduation exam and university entrance exam would not cause the same concerns as in previous years.

Having been "favorably" chosen by the Prime Minister among the heads of relevant social sector ministries to speak at the online government meeting with localities on the morning of December 29th, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha reported on the key tasks of the sector in 2017.

The Minister of Education and Training affirmed before the Prime Minister and the Government that the national high school graduation exam and university entrance exam would not cause the same concerns as in previous years.

The issues currently attracting public attention are the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination and university and college admissions. Minister Phung Xuan Nha stated that the draft regulations continue to innovate towards greater autonomy and efficiency; the development of exam questions, teacher training, and the collection of opinions on the 2017 admission plan have basically achieved social consensus.

The Ministry of Education and Training is continuing to gather feedback from localities, universities, colleges, teachers, students, and the public... The goal is to make the organization of the high school graduation exam and university/college entrance exam smoother and less stressful than in previous years.

Accordingly, in 2017, the education sector focused on reviewing the planning of educational facilities throughout the entire system. Localities are facing difficulties due to changes in the planning of the education network related to migration and socio-economic fluctuations, resulting in overcrowded cities, fewer students in rural areas, and scattered school locations in mountainous regions. Therefore, it is necessary to consider consolidating schools and school locations to increase investment in infrastructure; prioritizing the reinforcement of school buildings in the most disadvantaged areas.

In higher education, Minister Nha proposed strengthening university autonomy and quality control. Local authorities should restructure the system of teacher training colleges, linking them with some major teacher training universities to serve the retraining of teachers in the province.
