Prices before, during and after Tet

According to the assessment, in the first days of the new year, the prices of some essential goods increased, focusing on fresh food items, such as meat and fish, some worship items in accordance with the law of supply and demand of the market, but there was no sudden change, only fresh seafood increased sharply in price. On the third day of Tet, supermarkets in the area opened to serve the shopping needs of the people.

Nowadays, the goods sold in the markets are more abundant. The prices of most items remain the same as before Tet, and the number of buyers is still low.PriceItems that fluctuated before Tet are tending to decrease to normal levels.

This year, the Philippines and African countries are increasing their rice imports, including Vietnamese sticky rice, so the price of sticky rice and rice in general for export is increasing rapidly. In the domestic market, the demand for sticky rice for Tet and making cakes is also increasing, so the market price fluctuations are more active. However, thanks to the abundant supply of rice in the province, the retail price of rice has only increased slightly from 500 - 2,000 VND/kg.

Due to people's need to stock up on food during Tet, prices of livestock meat such as pork and beef have increased significantly: Pork rump and belly cost from 150,000 - 160,000 VND/kg; beef tenderloin: from 300,000 - 330,000 VND/kg, beef shank: 330,000 - 390,000 VND/kg, carp: 80,000 - 110,000 VND/kg; banana fish: 100,000 - 115,000 VND/kg.

The prices of poultry meat such as chicken and duck are relatively stable thanks to abundant supply, specifically: Live chickens are sold at about 100,000 - 120,000 VND/kg in districts, towns and plains, and at markets in Vinh City, the price ranges from 130,000 - 150,000 VND/kg.
Seafood supply is abundant, retail prices have increased by about 10,000 - 30,000 VND/kg (depending on the type), specifically: Mackerel type 1 has the highest retail price increase, up 30,000 VND/kg, average selling price ranges from 280,000 - 320,000 VND/kg; Big grass carp type 5kg - 7kg/fish has a selling price of 80,000 - 100,000 VND/kg, medium river shrimp has a price of 170,000 - 200,000 VND/kg...

Unlike previous years, after Tet,green vegetable priceAlthough the price of vegetables, tubers and fruits has increased sharply, they are still "sold out". This year, the supply of vegetables, tubers and fruits in localities is abundant, the retail prices of some items remain the same or decrease slightly. Mustard greens are 4,000 VND/bunch, Malabar spinach shoots are 6,000 VND/bunch, potato shoots are 5,000 - 8,000 VND/bunch, green squash is 10,000 VND/kg... The price of technological products such as soft drinks and beer of all kinds is basically stable.

There are many types of ornamental plants to serve the needs of Tet holiday, from small to medium and large with many different prices. In general, this year, the flower and ornamental plant market is rich and diverse, the selling price has decreased sharply compared to the same period last year due to unusual rainy weather and the large gap between supply and demand, forcing flower and ornamental plant traders to sell at low prices to clear out their stock and cut losses.

Strengthening direction and stabilizing the market

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, implementing the direction of the Secretariat and the Prime Minister on strengthening measures to ensure a joyful, healthy, safe and economical Tet holiday, the Department of Industry and Trade has carried out propaganda work well, strengthened market inspection and control to warn and prevent subjects and acts of law violation in production and business, contributing to stabilizing the market, ensuring the circulation of goods, and protecting consumer rights.

Closely monitor the supply and demand of goods and services in the area, synthesize market price reports before, during and after Tet, focusing on food, foodstuffs and essential goods and services for Tet. At the same time, encourage and urge commercial businesses to prepare sufficient supply sources for the end of the year and Tet. Districts, cities and towns proactively develop plans to implement solutions to balance supply and demand, stabilize the market at the end of 2020 and the 2021 Lunar New Year in the area.

Also during the Lunar New Year, supermarkets such as Big C Supermarket, MM Mega Market, Maximark, Lotus Nam Dan, Huong Giang... convenience stores such as Vinmart, Bibigreen,... and shopping malls, goods distributors such as Thanh Nghe Tinh Food Joint Stock Company and markets in the province have proactively developed plans to prepare goods for Tet and committed to always having abundant supply, the selling prices of essential goods will remain stable on the days before Tet or after Tet. Some distribution enterprises in the province have also registered points of sale of essential goods for the Lunar New Year.
