Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh passed away
After 5 years returning to Vietnam from Thailand and recuperating at Tu Hieu Pagoda (Hue City), Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh passed away at 0:00 on January 22, 2022 (December 20, Tan Suu year), at the age of 96.
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh is 96 years old this year, he became a monk and studied at Tu Hieu Pagoda, he founded Mai Thon Monastery in France and many other meditation centers in the US, Germany, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
After more than 40 years since leaving Vietnam, the Zen Master returned to his homeland to propagate Buddhism for the first time in 2005 and then in 2007, 2008...
Previously, in November 2014, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh suffered a health incident and was diagnosed with a stroke. He was then taken to the United States for treatment and recovery.
In 2017, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh returned to Vietnam from Thailand, returned to Tu Hieu Pagoda to recuperate and has stayed there until now.
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh is a world-famous person, honored with many noble awards, author of many works on applied Buddhism, culture, and literature translated into many languages and ranked among best-selling books in many countries.

In 2017, right after returning to Vietnam, the Zen Master wrote a letter to his fellow disciples and venerable monks.BuddhismHue, expressed his last wishes.
“The mission of propagating the Dharma and saving lives in both the East and the West has been partly accomplished. The circle is now closing, I see that it is time for me to return to the Ancestral Temple to live with my brothers during these years.
The desire to return to the land of my ancestors and establish a tradition of study and practice at the Ancestral Temple has been my deepest desire over the years. Therefore, I have decided to return to Vietnam, to live in the land of my ancestors, to be present with my brothers and descendants of the Ancestral Temple until the day I leave this incarnation…”, the Zen master expressed his last wish in a letter to his disciples and the Buddhas.
It is known that the Zen Master's funeral will be held for 5 days at Tu Hieu Pagoda (Thuy Xuan Ward, Hue City, TT-Hue Province).
