Lack of human resources in the field of Natural Resources and Environment Management
(Baonghean.vn) - Human resources in the field of Natural Resources and Environment Management play an important role in the Education and Training sector, and are considered the key to the national strategy. Currently, the demand for this human resource is very large and is always in a state of "supply less than demand".
Lots of growth potential
Vietnam is in the process of accelerating the process of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration. Along with that problem, the massive exploitation of natural resources has given rise to a series of problems such as population growth, resource depletion, environmental pollution...
To ensure that resources are exploited, used reasonably and sustainably, it is necessary to have a team of qualified and dedicated human resources in the Natural Resources and Environment Management (TN&MT) sector.

Every year, dozens of enterprises in the field of natural resources and environment come to the institute, contact the department to recruit interns and graduates to work for the company. However, Vinh University does not have enough students to supply the enterprises. Photo: TH |
Reality also shows that although the number of human resources working in the Natural Resources and Environment sector is very large, there are still many shortcomings in meeting the development requirements and the 4.0 industrial revolution. Therefore, training high-quality human resources for the Natural Resources and Environment sector is not only a concern of training units but also a concern of managers.
Regarding the training of human resources in the field of Natural Resources and Environment, Dr. Tran Thi Tuyen - Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Management - Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Vinh University said that every year, dozens of enterprises in the field of natural resources and environment come to the Institute, contacting the Department to recruit interns and graduates to work for the company. During the internship, the enterprise trains and pays salaries, ranging from 3 to 7 million VND/month. After graduation, the starting salaries are over 7 million VND/month. However, the current problem is that there are not enough students for companies to recruit.
With this reality, Dr. Tran Thi Tuyen said: Currently, students are missing a very good opportunity when they do not choose to enroll in the field of Natural Resources and Environment Management, a field that is currently lacking a lot of human resources in society. Meanwhile, the Law on Environmental Protection No. 72/2020/QH14 issued on December 4, 2020 stipulates that companies whose activities affect the environment must have specialized environmental officers. This is a great job opportunity for students studying this field.

Previously, since 2017, the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources - Vinh University was established on the basis of the former Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, along with the merger of the two departments of Environmental Resource Management and Land Management of the Faculty of Geography and Natural Resources Management. Currently, the Institute is training full-time undergraduate, part-time undergraduate, and distance learning students in the fields of Aquaculture, Animal Husbandry, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Natural Resources and Environmental Management, and Land Management. At the same time, it trains postgraduate students in two master's degrees in Crop Science and Aquaculture.
Dr. Tran Thi Tuyen also affirmed: The training program of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Management at Vinh University is constantly updated and innovated in the direction of approaching the domestic job market and international trends. Recently, the implementation of the training program according to the CDIO approach has made the cooperation between the University and businesses closer. The participation of businesses in consulting, developing programs and practicing, interning, and developing research projects has also helped students after graduation to be equipped with the best knowledge and skills, which are highly appreciated by recruiting units.
