Major General Nguyen Manh Hung officially holds the position of Minister of Information and Communications
The vote counting results showed that Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung was approved by the National Assembly to hold the position of Minister of Information and Communications for the 2016-2021 term.
Continuing the program of the 6th Session of the 14th National Assembly, on the morning of October 24, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee Tran Van Tuy reported the results of the discussion at the National Assembly Delegation on the approval of the appointment of the position of Minister of Information and Communications.
Next, the National Assembly approved the appointment of the position of Minister of Information and Communications by secret ballot and voted to pass a Resolution approving the appointment of this position.

The resolution was voted through with 461/469 delegates in favor (accounting for 95.05%) stating: Approving the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung to the position of Minister of Information and Communications for the 2016-2021 term.
Before being approved for appointment, on July 25, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed Decision No. 900/QD-TTg assigning the authority of Minister of Information and Communications to Major General Nguyen Manh Hung.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung was born in 1962 in Phu Tho province, originally from Tu Son district, Bac Ninh province.
In 2016, at the 12th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung was elected to the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
On June 14, 2018, the Prime Minister issued a decision to appoint Major General Nguyen Manh Hung to the position of Chairman and General Director of the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel)./.
