(Baonghean.vn) - On June 14, Vinh Phuc Pagoda in Nam Xuan Commune, Nam Dan District received a petition from Buddhists for 3 Buddha statues to be placed right in the main hall of the Tam Bao Temple to build a more spacious pagoda.

Vinh Phuc Pagoda in Hamlet 3, Nam Xuan Commune dates back to the Ly Dynasty (1138 - 1139). Over time, the pagoda has been severely damaged, leaving only the original vestiges of the ancient pagoda. The unique feature of the pagoda is that in the grounds there is a thousand-year-old Bodhi tree, with a diameter of more than 3 meters and a canopy of more than 35 meters. The entire roots of the Bodhi tree embrace the brick-built tomb of Zen master Nguyen Na.

With the desire to make Vinh Phuc pagoda more and more spacious, a son of Nghe An and Buddhists volunteered to invite 3 large Buddha statues to offer to the pagoda.

Three Buddha statues are placed right in the main hall of the Three Jewels.

The pagoda also called on Buddhists at home and abroad to join the pagoda in petitioning to build Vinh Phuc pagoda.

The project is expected to be completed with a capacity of hundreds of people to come and study, and will be a spiritual space serving the religious and tourism needs of visitors from all over.

Zen Master Nguyen Na was the eldest grandson of Mr. Nguyen Hien - a Duke of the Le Loi Dynasty, who assisted Le Loi in repelling the Ming invaders. During his lifetime, he was very intelligent and studious. When he grew up, his parents forced him to get married, and their married life was not harmonious and happy. He left home to study Buddhism, became a vegetarian, recited Buddha's name, and became the abbot of Vinh Phuc Pagoda. Later, due to his many merits and reputation throughout Thang Long, Nguyen Na was granted the title of Zen Master by King Le, with the dharma name Phap Tam Nhu Lai. After a period of practicing Buddhism, he passed away at the pagoda on the 6th day of the 4th lunar month (unknown year). His disciples buried him in the grounds of Vinh Phuc Pagoda.
