Speaking at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Mr. Cavusoglu stated: "We signed an agreement with Russia, Türkiye needs missile systems, we consulted with many countries, but some countries did not want to provide us with air defense missile systems, and we made an agreement with Russia and signed a delivery contract."
He also noted that "third countries' opposition to the two countries' decision is against international policy".
Foreign Minister Cavusoglu stressed: "We signed an agreement with Russia, and third countries have nothing to do with this. We bought the system to serve our own needs, we need air defense systems. Russia can sell S-400 to third countries, why would I object to a product that I buy for my own country? It is important that some details are made in Türkiye."
