According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on June 23, due to the influence of the southern edge of the low pressure trough connecting with the hot low pressure area in the West, compressed by the continental high pressure in the North, gradually moving south with the southwest wind zone causing a strong Foehn effect, the midland and delta provinces of the North and Central regions continued to have hot and extremely hot weather, some places had especially intense hot weather with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 34-38 degrees Celsius, some places over 39 degrees Celsius.

This is the 19th consecutive day of heat wave in the Central region.

Particularly, the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue have severe and especially severe heat with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 38-41 degrees, some places over 41 degrees. The time with temperature above 35 degrees is from 10am to 5pm.

From 6am, the sky was already bright, the temperature reached 30 degrees and increased by more than one degree every hour. The meteorological agency recorded that at 1pm, except for Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, all the northern provinces had hot spots of 35-37 degrees Celsius. The coolest were Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Sin Ho (Lai Chau) also 27 degrees, Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc) 29 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Central region is entering its 19th consecutive day of heat waves, with Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Binh as the focal points. At 1 p.m., the temperature in Con Cuong reached 42 degrees Celsius, Tuong Duong, Quy Hop (Nghe An) 41 degrees Celsius. Many other areas such as Do Luong (Nghe An), Huong Son, Huong Khe (Ha Tinh), and Tuyen Hoa (Quang Binh) reached 40 degrees Celsius.

The weather in the Central region is windy, but it is the dry and hot Southwest monsoon, which makes the burning sensation even more intense. The highest temperature in the Central region today is forecast to reach 43 degrees. The shortage of irrigation water in the fields that have been sown for only a month will become more serious.
