Informing the working delegation, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa said that in 2020 and 2021, the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic have severely affected the socio-economic development of the province in general and foreign affairs in particular. Many foreign affairs activities could not take place as planned.

However, with the efforts of local authorities and the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the province has also achieved many remarkable results.

Congratulating comrade Nguyen Quoc Dung on being appointed as Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States for the 2022-2024 term, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province expressed his hope that the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, in his new position and responsibility, will pay attention to connecting Nghe An province to have an official meeting with the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Amcham), promoting investment attraction from American businesses in Nghe An.

Referring to the humanitarian work being jointly implemented by the US and Vietnam in Thanh Chuong district, after completion, comrade Le Ngoc Hoa proposed that Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung would be the bridge to convey the local wishes, that the US side would study and invest in a number of projects in Thanh Tien commune or Thanh Chuong district, as a symbol of bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Along with that, Nghe An also expressed its desire to connect to receive US support for Covid-19 vaccines, speed up vaccination coverage in the province, and quickly adapt to the new situation. Representatives of the leaders of departments and branches also presented potential areas of cooperation with the US side such as teaching and learning, English training, vocational training, improving the quality of human resources, investing in the field of innovative startups, etc.

Representing the delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung thanked Nghe An province for its warm welcome and promised that, when assuming the role of Vietnamese Ambassador to the US, he would be an active bridge to promote cooperation between the US and Nghe An.

Comrade Nguyen Quoc Dung assessed that Nghe An has attracted a lot of cooperation from other countries, but the US alone has not had much. In the coming time, it is necessary to pay attention to promoting and expanding relations with countries in the North American region, diversifying cooperation for sustainable development. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that Nghe An will continue to promote the good coordination of humanitarian issues as it has done in the past, thereby opening up new cooperation opportunities with the US.

Nghe An province and the United States have great potential in the field of economic cooperation, and both sides need to pay more attention to promote it in the coming period. Nghe An needs to promote its strength as a revolutionary homeland, clearly identify the province's priorities in attracting investment, thereby promoting specific, practical and effective projects.
