A representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that Deputy Minister Ho Thi Kim Thoa has just submitted a resignation letter to the Ministry's leadership. After submitting the letter, Ms. Thoa requested leave (from August 1) and during this time, Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai will temporarily be in charge of the management areas that Ms. Thoa was assigned to undertake at the Ministry.
However, this person said that the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade do not have the right to decide whether or not to let Ms. Thoa quit her job, but must be at a higher level because she is a cadre at the Central Secretariat level.
According to the prescribed procedure, after the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade meets and reports to the Government Party Committee, this agency will report to the Central Secretariat for consideration and decision.

Two days ago (July 31), the Central Inspection Committee announced the disciplinary conclusion against Deputy Minister Ho Thi Kim Thoa. This agency determined that Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa's violations and shortcomings occurred during her tenure as Party Secretary, Director of Dien Quang Lamp Company, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Dien Quang Lamp Joint Stock Company (from January 2004 to May 2010).
The Central Inspection Committee recognized Ms. Thoa's shortcomings as "very serious", so this agency proposed a disciplinary warning and recommended that competent authorities consider dismissing the female Deputy Minister from her current positions.
Following the conclusion of the Central Inspection Committee, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said it had not yet received an official dispatch from the Committee, but "only learned about the information through the media". However, the agency affirmed that immediately after receiving the official document, it would take steps in accordance with the procedure for handling officials.
Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa is said to have violated procedures in the equitization of enterprises, failed to report to the Ministry of Industry (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade) for handling, and improperly handled the amount of loan interest exempted by the bank of 6.7 billion VND. She also failed to report to the competent authorities and improperly handled the 30 billion VND revenue from the transfer of the right to exploit and use the land at 12 Ton Dan (HCMC). According to the inspection agency, she purchased shares in excess of the prescribed amount; transferred shares not in accordance with the company's charter. Currently, Ms. Thoa and some family members (mother, younger brother, daughter...) are holding about 11.78 million shares (34.57% of charter capital) at Dien Quang Light Bulb Joint Stock Company. The value of this asset of Deputy Minister Thoa's family is currently nearly 500 billion VND. |
