Polish Prime Minister dismisses 17 deputy ministers

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiechki announced at a press conference on March 12 (local time) that he had dismissed 17 deputy ministers in a reshuffle of the executive branch in this Central European country.

The Polish Prime Minister's decision is part of a plan to reduce government staff by about 20. The dismissed ministers include: Deputy Minister of Maritime Economy and Domestic Aviation, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Technology and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister's Office.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiechki did not emphasize any personal or political reasons behind the decision. He said the dismissal of a number of deputy ministers was aimed at improving the work of the cabinet and ensuring more effective cooperation between government agencies.
In addition, the Polish Prime Minister also plans to cut all bonuses for ministers and deputy ministers in the near future. There are a total of 19 ministries in the Polish cabinet, including the Prime Minister's Office.
