Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc directed to clarify the case of children infected with pork tapeworm in Bac Ninh.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested the Ministry of Health to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province to verify and clarify the cause of the incident. If there is any violation, it must be strictly handled according to the provisions of the law.

On the morning of March 18, during a working session with ministries, branches and localities on solutions to promote production and business, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc directed the Ministry of Health to immediately mobilize doctors, professional staff and equipment to test for pork tapeworm infection in students in Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province.

In response to the news that hundreds of households in Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh had been present at several hospitals in Hanoi since 3 a.m. to test their children for tapeworm infection, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Health to immediately dispatch doctors, professional staff, and equipment to Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh, to test the students.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province to verify and clarify the cause of the incident and promptly publicize the results.

The Ministry of Public Security is investigating to clarify the cause. If there is any violation, it must be strictly handled according to the provisions of law.

The Ministry of Education and Training coordinates with the Ministry of Health to direct nationwide the provision of food and meals to schools, ensuring safety for students.

The Prime Minister emphasized the social responsibility of press agencies to report truthful news and not cause social panic.

The Prime Minister also requested provincial and municipal leaders to quickly review, synthesize, and handle serious incidents as soon as information is published in the press.

As of the evening of March 17, about 1,700 children in Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh had been tested for pork tapeworm by their families, and the number of positive cases was 209.

It is expected that on March 18, there will be test results of 300 more cases.
