With the largest scale ever, the Conference on Sustainable Development of the Mekong Delta, Climate Change Adaptation aims to call for great ideas to help the Government and provinces in the region identify large-scale strategic solutions for transformation to sustainably develop the Mekong Delta with a vision to 2100.

Previously, more than two months ago, during his visit to the Netherlands, the Prime Minister flew by helicopter to survey the planning of the delta region and observed water control works and sea dykes in some important basins and coastal areas of the Netherlands, a typical country in responding to and adapting to climate change.

At that time, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc discussed with the Dutch Government to choose the Mekong Delta region to build a model for sustainable development transformation, combining high technology with inheriting indigenous knowledge.

The conference on sustainable development of the Mekong Delta in response to climate change was held in Can Tho on September 26-27. Yesterday, hundreds of experts, scientists and leaders of ministries discussed and issued warnings as well as suggested many solutions for the Mekong Delta to cope with climate change.

Today, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will chair the plenary session of the conference.
