Prime Minister requests immediate official information on fish sauce quality
The Government Office has just issued a document conveying the direction of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc regarding information on the quality of fish sauce.
Considering the request of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers and a number of associations and unions in the Petition dated October 20, 2016 on handling and preventing actions that cause damage to the traditional fish sauce production industry of Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Health to immediately provide official, public, clear and complete information to the people about the type and safe content of arsenic in fish sauce products as well as other necessary related information, to avoid causing confusion in public opinion.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to specifically review the compliance with legal regulations in the process of publishing information in the press by the Vietnam Association for Standards and Consumer Protection (VINASTAS), and strictly handle violations (if any).
The Ministry of Information and Communications shall inspect and strictly handle violations of the law on press activities in the above case.
The Prime Minister requested relevant ministries and agencies to report the results of the handling before November 10, 2016.
