Mr. Tran Nhat Minh, full-time National Assembly delegate from Nghe An delegation, said that with socio-economic development, gasoline has become a daily necessity, no longer a luxury item.

The National Assembly Standing Committee passed a resolution to reduce environmental protection tax on gasoline.
The National Assembly Standing Committee held an extraordinary meeting on the morning of July 6 and decided, within its authority, to continue reducing environmental protection tax on gasoline, oil, and grease.
The National Assembly Standing Committee resolved to reduce gasoline and oil taxes.
On March 23, the National Assembly Standing Committee reviewed and approved a Resolution on environmental protection tax (EPT) rates for gasoline, oil, and grease until December 31, 2022.
Amendment of regulations on deduction of special consumption tax
The amount of special consumption tax (SCT) deducted corresponds to the SCT amount of raw materials used to produce goods subject to SCT for sale.
The government proposed to dramatically increase the environmental tax on gasoline.
Each liter of gasoline will be subject to an environmental tax of VND4,000 and oil will be subject to VND2,000, both of which are the highest rates under the current framework.

From July 1, 2018, the environmental protection tax on petroleum products is expected to increase to the maximum level - 4,000 VND/liter, an increase of 1,000 VND/liter.
