Heartbreaking family situation of 'traffic knight' in Quynh Luu
(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Ho Van Dieu, thediligentlyfor 13 yearsvolunteered to lead students through the "crossroads of death" in Quynh Van commune, Quynh Luu.Ironically, the son of the "traffic knight" was the victim of a traffic accident and is in critical condition.
These days, while Mr. Dieu and his wife have to stay by their son's side day and night, who is in critical condition due to a traffic accident, the people of Hamlet 6, Quynh Van, Quynh Luu still regularly come to share and help with housework; encouraging the family to overcome difficulties.
Recalling the accident that happened to her family, Mrs. Hoang Thi Thia (Mr. Dieu's wife) is still in shock. On the afternoon of April 1, her son, Mr. Ho Van Nhieu, rode a motorbike from home to a friend's house in Dien Lam commune, Dien Chau district.
In the afternoon, the family was shocked to hear that Nhieu had been hit by a truck and was receiving first aid at Phu Dien Hospital (Dien Chau). The family immediately went to the district hospital and hired a car to take him to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment. However, the doctors said that due to the serious injuries from a traumatic brain injury, facial trauma, to a fractured left leg, Nhieu needed to be transferred to Viet Duc Hospital (Hanoi) for treatment.

After the serious accident, up to now, although Mr. Nhieu has undergone two major surgeries, his health condition has not improved much. He is still in a deep coma and has to use a ventilator.
Mr. Ho Van Dieu's family is one of the poor households in the locality, their economy depends on 3 sao of contracted rice fields. Due to their old age, he and his wife cannot do heavy work. Mr. Dieu's family has 4 children, Mr. Nhieu is the eldest son (his two younger sisters are married). Mr. Nhieu graduated from vocational college but has not found a job. He has had to work hard everywhere, hoping to earn money to support his family.

All the family's activities depended on Nhieu's meager salary. However, the accident caused the family to fall into poverty. Mr. Dieu and his wife had to run around everywhere to borrow more than 100 million VND to treat their son.
“Nhieu is in a coma and needs a large sum of money for treatment. Now the family just hopes to have money to treat Nhieu, but my family has borrowed from all of our brothers, sisters, and friends, and now there is no one left to borrow from…”, Mrs. Thia confided in tears.

The difficult situation of Mr. Dieu's family made the locals here sympathize and wholeheartedly help. Because the people of Quynh Van all love Mr. Dieu and affectionately call him "traffic knight", when for more than 13 years he has devoted himself to charity work, leading primary and secondary school students of Quynh Van commune across the "Death Crossroads" on National Highway 1A (about 500 meters from his house). Previously, this intersection was a hot spot for traffic accidents.
With this meaningful work, Mr. Ho Van Dieu was awarded the Medal for the Development of Vietnam's Transport by Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang.

Now, Mr. Dieu’s family is in a difficult and unfortunate situation, when the only son, who is also the breadwinner of the family, is fighting for his life; the medical bills have reached hundreds of millions of dong. The family is in dire need of the community’s support and help.
