That was the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang - Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee at the national online conference to review the work of ensuring traffic order and safety in the first 6 months of the year and tasks and solutions for the third quarter of 2024.
On the morning of July 12, the National Traffic Safety Committee held a national online conference to review the work of ensuring traffic order and safety in the first 6 months of the year and tasks and solutions for the third quarter of 2024. The conference was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang - Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.
At Nghe An bridge, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee chaired; attended by representatives of relevant departments and branches.

In the first 6 months of 2024, with the drastic direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, and the active participation of ministries, branches and localities, the traffic order and safety situation in the first 6 months of 2024 was basically ensured.
Traffic accidents have reduced the number of deaths compared to the same period in 2023, specifically, a decrease of 634 deaths, traffic congestion has been well controlled and decreased by over 65% compared to the same period in 2023. In particular, the number of traffic accidents caused by drivers violating alcohol concentration regulations during peak periods has decreased sharply compared to previous years.
The Traffic Police force inspected and handled 2,136,205 cases of traffic order and safety violations, fined 4,052 billion 241 million VND, revoked 407,703 driving licenses, certificates, and professional certificates; and temporarily detained 715,459 vehicles of all kinds.

In Nghe An, in the first 6 months of the year, the province has focused on directing the synchronous and comprehensive implementation of many drastic and innovative solutions, thanks to which, the traffic order and safety situation in the province has been ensured, and traffic accidents have decreased significantly in all 3 criteria. Specifically, in the first 6 months of 2024, there were 207 cases in the province, killing 115 people and injuring 132 people; compared to the same period in 2023, there were 33 fewer cases; 40 fewer deaths; and 28 fewer injuries.

At the conference, many opinions from ministries, branches and localities said that in order to limit traffic accidents, it is necessary to strengthen inspection and control, especially strictly handle driving after drinking alcohol; increase investment, upgrade traffic infrastructure, eliminate potential black spots for accidents...
Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang - Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee requested localities with high traffic accidents in the first 6 months of the year to have a report assessing specific causes and specific solutions to overcome them in the coming time; relevant ministries and branches need to continue to build and perfect the system of legal documents; Continue to review and handle black spots and potential points for new traffic accidents.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang especially noted that the National Traffic Safety Committee needs to continue to coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and agencies to develop and implement a communication campaign combined with a peak period of inspection, patrol, control, reminder and handling of violations to prevent the situation of handing over vehicles to unqualified people to drive, focusing on parents and students nationwide. The Ministry of Transport has stepped up the implementation of propaganda, dissemination and education activities on traffic safety laws in conjunction with the theme of Traffic Safety Year 2024 "Respecting the law to build a culture of safe traffic" to raise awareness of self-compliance with the law and building a culture of safe traffic among people and businesses.

The Ministry of Public Security continues to direct the Traffic Police force to strongly innovate the method of patrolling, controlling and handling violations of traffic order and safety. Thoroughly use professional technical equipment and surveillance camera systems to record, detect and handle violations and manage patrol and control work to ensure publicity and transparency; focus on handling violations that are the main causes of traffic accidents, such as violations of alcohol and drug concentrations, overloading, expanding vehicle walls and trunks, etc.
