The man behind that impressive speech was none other than Stephen Miller.
Stephen Miller is on the list of 12 key figures in the entourage accompanying US President Donald Trump to Da Nang to attend APEC Vietnam and pay an official visit to Vietnam. At the age of 31, Stephen Miller became a senior policy advisor to US President Donald Trump and a speechwriter for the President during his foreign trips, including trips to the Middle East, Poland, and most recently, his trip to Asia, including Vietnam.
President Trump's opening remarks at APEC Vietnam, provided by the White House, read: It is an honor for me to be here in Vietnam - in the heart of the Indo-Pacific - to address the people and business leaders of this region.
This has been a remarkable week for America in this wonderful part of the world. Starting in Hawaii, Melania and I traveled to Japan, South Korea, China, and now Vietnam, to be with all of you today.
Before I begin, I want to address all those affected by Typhoon Damrey. Americans are praying for you and for your recovery in the months ahead. Our hearts are with the Vietnamese people who have suffered loss as a result of this terrible storm. …
The speech also mentioned historical milestones when the first Americans came to Vietnam, as laying the foundation for today's relationship.

The article, in particular, is striking in the passage: “That consciousness has guided us throughout the history of America. That consciousness has inspired us to sacrifice and to innovate. And that is why today, hundreds of years after the victory in the American Revolution, we still remember the words of an American founding father and the second President of the United States, John Adams. As an elderly man, shortly before his death, this great patriot was asked to express his thoughts on the 50th anniversary of America’s bright freedom. He replied with the words: independence forever.
It is a sentiment that burns in the hearts of every patriot and every nation. Our host country here in Vietnam has known this sentiment not only for the past 200 years, but I think for nearly 2000 years. Around 40 AD, two Vietnamese sisters, the Trung Sisters, first awakened the spirit of the people of this land. Then, and for the first time, the Vietnamese people stood up to fight for your independence and your pride.
Today, patriots and heroes - from our history - hold the answers to the important questions of our future and our time. They remind us to recognize who we are and what we are called to do.
Together, we have the power to lift humanity and our world to new heights - to heights no one has ever reached before,
So let us choose a future of patriotism, prosperity, and pride. Let us choose wealth and liberty over poverty and servitude. Let us choose a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Finally, never forget that the world has many places, many dreams, and many paths. But in all the world, there is no place like home.
And so, for the sake of family, country, freedom, history and the glory of God, protect your home, defend your home and love your home today and forever.”
Stephen Miller also wrote President Trump’s keynote speech on the future of NATO when Trump visited Brussels. Stephen Miller is a confident man. It was Miller’s absolute confidence that endeared him to Trump, whom he first met in 2015, when Miller helped bring Sessions (now Attorney General) into Trump’s “arms.” After the Republican National Convention in July 2016, Miller became Trump’s chief speechwriter.
The messages in the speeches reflect Mr. Trump's views so closely that Mr. Trump always trusts Miller to use.
One of the most notable speeches Miller wrote for Trump was his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, in which Trump declared: “Nobody understands the system better than me, which is why I can fix it.”
