Finding solutions to preserve and promote traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 8, the Ethnic Committee and the Culture - Social Committee of the Provincial People's Council held a conference to discuss the work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, associated with tourism and service development in Nghe An province.
Attending the conference were members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Hoang Thi Thu Trang - Director of the Department of Justice; Vi Van Son - Head of the Provincial Ethnic Committee. Also attending were comrade Nguyen Quy Linh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Vuong Quang Minh - Principal of the Provincial Political School; representatives of the Department of Culture and Sports, representatives of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of Con Cuong district and experts who have a deep understanding of culture and the work of preserving the culture of ethnic minorities.

Nghe An is a locality with many ethnic minorities, including 5 main ethnic minorities, including Thai, Tho, Mong, Kho Mu and O Du, with about 466,137 people (accounting for 15.2% of the province's population) residing in 11 districts and towns. Each ethnic group has different rituals, beliefs, customs and practices, creating cultural diversity, contributing significantly to enriching the cultural treasure of ethnic groups in the province in particular and Vietnam in general.

In recent times, the work of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities has been preserved and promoted by all levels and sectors, creating quite attractive tourism products. The implementation of the work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in association with tourism development has been quite effective, contributing to both restoring, preserving and promoting many typical and distinctive cultural values of ethnic groups, while creating more jobs and increasing income; thereby, promoting the process of hunger eradication and poverty reduction in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Besides the positive results, in the current context, the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in our province are also facing profound changes and are being lost, posing huge challenges in preserving and promoting their values.
The need to preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minority communities is becoming increasingly urgent in the context of international exchange and integration. Along with the concern for preserving and promoting cultural values in the integration process, the issue of creating a close connection between the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities and programs, projects and policies for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas also needs to be raised.

Attending the conference, researchers, managers, artisans, and prestigious people representing the Thai, Tho, Mong, etc. ethnic groups from various localities had discussions and clarified the current status of the work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, associated with tourism and service development. The delegates also put forward very specific initiatives, solutions, and proposals with high practical value, aiming to orient and apply in the work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, associated with tourism and service development in particular and the work of preserving and promoting cultural values in Nghe An province in general.

Organizing the conference helps the Ethnic Committee and the Cultural - Social Committee of the Provincial People's Council have more practical information, to propose and recommend the Central Government to perfect institutions and policies, and request the Provincial People's Committee and relevant State management agencies to better direct the implementation of the work of preserving and promoting traditional values of ethnic minorities, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities in the province.
