Because they knew each other through social networks, with the intention of finding an opportunity to appropriate property, on the morning of November 4, Nguyen Huu Thanh invited Ms. Dang Thi L (37 years old, Cho Lach district, Ben Tre province) to go shopping at the market in Ward 3, Ben Tre city.

Because of trust, Ms. L. agreed and gave her motorbike to Thanh to drive her from Tien Giang to Ben Tre.

When arriving at Ben Tre market, Thanh told Ms. L. to give him her handbag to keep, then taking advantage of the time when the victim was shopping, Thanh took her motorbike, took her handbag, and drove back to his house in Cho Gao district.

Inside Ms. L's handbag were 6.6 million VND, 2.5 taels of 24k gold, 7 taels of 18k gold, 3 savings books worth more than 300 million VND and some personal identification papers.

After returning home, Thanh took all the gold in Ms. L's handbag and sold it for 18.2 million VND. After receiving the victim's report, the police organized a search and arrested Nguyen Huu Thanh and all the evidence at his house that same afternoon.
