Nghe An province holds press conference on socio-economic situation in the third quarter of 2022

On the morning of October 13, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to announce the socio-economic development, national defense and security situation in the third quarter of 2022.

Co-chairing the press conference were comrades: Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Ba Hao - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications. Nghe An is in the Top 10 localities attracting the largest FDI investment in the country.

In the first 9 months of the year, the whole province carried out its tasks in the context of many challenges such as: The world economic outlook became more difficult when the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine continued; inflation remained high, especially in Europe and the US; in the province, the weather situation was unusual; the price of raw materials and fuel increased, affecting production, business and people's lives.

On the basis of closely following the direction of the Central Government and the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities, the synchronous participation of the entire political system, the unanimous support and great efforts of all classes of people and the business community, Nghe An province has gradually recovered clearly in all sectors and fields and achieved positive results.

The 9-month gross domestic product (GRDP) growth rate is estimated at 9.23%; ranking 2nd in the North Central region and 29th out of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities; State budget revenue is estimated at 15,730 billion VND, reaching 104.9% of the estimate, up 16.6% over the same period in 2021. Local budget expenditure is estimated at 21,563 billion VND, reaching 69.4% of the assigned estimate.

Agricultural production continues to maintain stable growth momentum. The industrial production index in the first 9 months is estimated to increase by 9.69% over the same period in 2021. The service sector has a strong recovery: Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the first 9 months is estimated at VND 77,521.27 billion, up 47.04% over the same period in 2021.

As of October 13, 2022, the province has granted new licenses to 83 projects and adjusted 83 projects; the total newly granted and adjusted capital is 32,058.9 billion VND. In the first 9 months of 2022, for the first time, Nghe An entered the top 10 localities attracting the largest FDI in the country, with the total newly granted and adjusted capital increasing to 605.42 million USD.

At the same time, 2,330 new enterprises were established in the province, with a total registered capital of VND 17,212 billion; 713 enterprises registered to resume operations.

The cultural and social fields continue to receive attention and direction. Effective control of epidemics, especially the prevention and control of Covid-19 and dengue fever, and the implementation of vaccination for people ensures progress.

National defense and security continued to be maintained, social order and safety were ensured. Foreign affairs activities were directed and implemented effectively. Preparations were well implemented and the provincial defense and civil defense area drills were successfully organized.

It is estimated that in the first 9 months of the year, the whole province has created jobs for 40,954 people. Completed policies to support workers and employers facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the discussion at the conference, the opinions of journalists reflected the situation of some unfinished construction projects for many years, requesting the authorities to provide solutions to handle them; the cause of the Ky Son flood, long-term policies and people's livelihoods; people's rights in land disputes; the issue of policies for people with meritorious services; the handling of violations at Le Loi Clinic; the progress of the provincial General Hospital project; the Israeli tilapia farming project; clarifying the cause of subsidence in Quy Hop;...

Strengthening propaganda on flood and landslide warnings

Concluding the press conference, Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the important results in socio-economic development, security and defense in the first 9 months of 2022 had the positive and effective contributions of press agencies, journalists and reporters in the area. Journalists and reporters have closely followed and promptly informed issues of investment attraction and investment environment; spent a lot of time updating issues of social security, policies for workers, and developments in the epidemic situation, floods and natural disasters.

At the same time, the press agencies have also reflected on the shortcomings and limitations that the Party Committee, authorities, and mass organizations have not resolved in a timely manner. The resident offices have coordinated well with the Department of Information and Communications and the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department to closely follow the propaganda orientation.

However, some resident press agencies have not had many news and articles reflecting the socio-economic situation in the area; have not focused on propagating the province's policies such as the policy of liberating kiosks on the east side of Binh Minh Street (Cua Lo town),...; there are still some press agencies that provide information that is not in line with their objectives, some reporters use social networks to provide unverified information,

In the coming time, I hope that press agencies and reporters will promote the dissemination of the socio-economic development results of the province in the past 9 months, emphasizing 10 key groups of solutions in the last 3 months of the year; administrative reform; digital transformation; social security work. I especially hope that press agencies will update more on the work of overcoming the consequences of floods and storms by authorities and people; have many articles on warning work, guiding and propagating people to proactively respond to erratic weather developments, respond to floods, flash floods, landslides; strengthen propaganda on fire prevention, drug prevention, social evils, traffic safety, ... and activities to prepare for major holidays, traditional New Year.

In addition, promptly provide detailed and specific information on negative cases, especially acts of harassment by State officials and civil servants in the province, in an objective and constructive spirit, towards good things./.
