British newspaper The Independent publishes its final print issue
On March 26, the British newspaper The Independent published its last print issue, before switching completely to online distribution.
Thus, The Independent is the first major British daily newspaper to stop publishing print since 1995.
According to the leader of The Independent, the last print issue of the newspaper marks a bold move to an online-only model, to adapt to the needs of readers in the context of many changes in the world media trends.

The final print issue of The Independent, released on March 26, includes four special issues chronicling the newspaper's history.
The Independent's print edition was announced by the newspaper's leadership late last month.
The Independent was founded in 1986 and quickly became known for its eye-catching images and layout.
At its peak, the newspaper circulated more than 420,000 copies a day. However, the number of printed newspapers published has decreased significantly in recent years and was only about 40,000 copies a day in 2015.
In recent years, facing major changes in the development trends of world media, many prestigious newspapers in the world have had to suspend print editions due to a sharp decline in circulation and to focus on developing online newspapers.
These include many major American newspapers and magazines, such as CS Monitor, US News & World Report, and most recently, The New York Times./.
