British newspaper The Independent publishes its final print issue
On March 26, the British newspaper The Independent published its final print issue, before switching entirely to online publication.
Thus, The Independent is the first major British daily newspaper to stop publishing print since 1995.
According to the leader of The Independent, the newspaper's final print issue marks a bold move to an online-only model, in order to adapt to readers' needs in the context of changing global media trends.

The final print issue of The Independent, released on March 26, includes four special issues chronicling the paper's history.
The Independent's print edition was announced by the newspaper's leadership late last month.
The Independent was founded in 1986 and quickly became known for its eye-catching images and layout.
At its peak, the newspaper circulated more than 420,000 copies per day. However, the number of printed copies published in recent years has dropped significantly, falling to around 40,000 copies per day in 2015.
In recent years, facing major changes in the development trends of world media, many prestigious newspapers in the world have had to suspend print editions due to a sharp decline in circulation and to focus on developing online newspapers.
These include many major American newspapers and magazines, such as CS Monitor, US News & World Report, and most recently The New York Times./.
