General Secretary and President congratulates the education sector on the occasion of the new school year

“Dear teachers, administrators, education workers, parents and students!

On the occasion of the opening of the new school year 2019-2020, I would like to send my warmest feelings and best wishes to teachers, administrators, workers who have been working in the education sector, parents and students nationwide.

The 2018-2019 school year marks 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013 of the Party on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training. The education sector has strived, synchronously deployed solutions and achieved positive results; the team of teachers and educational managers has been standardized; the quality of education at all levels has been improved; the preparation and implementation of new programs and textbooks have been actively carried out; inspection, examination and handling of violations have been strengthened, contributing to rectifying and maintaining discipline in educational activities; Vietnamese student delegations participating in international Olympic competitions have achieved high results, gaining the admiration of international friends.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I warmly commend the efforts and achievements of the Education sector in recent times.

In the new school year 2019-2020, the education sector needs to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party's guidelines and the State's laws and policies on education and training, especially the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education and the Law on Education (amended) passed by the National Assembly; strengthen education on the nation's historical and cultural traditions, ethics, lifestyle, and revolutionary ideals for students; build a safe, healthy, and friendly educational environment; strive to successfully complete the goals of the school year and the 5-year plan 2016-2020.

I hope that teachers, administrators, and workers in the education sector will always maintain their political will, moral qualities, and dedication to their profession, constantly innovate and create, and contribute more to the cause of "cultivating people"; I hope that students will continue to promote the nation's tradition of studiousness and "respect for teachers and esteem for education", follow the example of previous generations, strive to study well, and train well to become both "red" and "expert" people in the future, as President Ho Chi Minh wished.
