South Korean President thanks Vietnam on social media

"I would like to express my deep gratitude to President Tran Dai Quang and the Vietnamese people for giving me the warmest welcome," South Korean President Moon Jae-in wrote on his personal Facebook and Twitter on March 24, according to a statement from the South Korean Embassy in Vietnam.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in paid an official visit to Vietnam from March 22 to 24. This was the first foreign trip of the South Korean President in 2018. Vietnam is considered a key partner of South Korea in the New Southern Policy.

During President Moon Jae-in's visit, Vietnam and South Korea agreed to strengthen cooperation in 17 areas, including security diplomacy, national defense, defense industry, future-oriented economic cooperation, investment, trade and environment.

The two leaders stressed the importance of peace, safety and freedom of navigation, peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law, effective and comprehensive implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and promoting the early signing of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).

That was the affirmation of South Korean President Moon Jae-in at a joint press conference with President Tran Dai Quang in Hanoi this morning (March 23).

At the invitation of President Tran Dai Quang, President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in and his wife began a State visit to Vietnam from March 22-24. This is President Moon Jae-in's first State visit to Vietnam.

Immediately after arriving in Vietnam, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam exchanged with the Vietnam U23 team.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in, his wife and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam had a meeting with the Vietnam U23 team and coaching staff on the afternoon of March 22.
