The two allies have agreed to hold a meeting around the time South Korean President Moon Jae-in visits the United States for the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly, from September 22 to 26, Blue House spokeswoman Ko Min-jung said. However, both sides are still discussing the specific schedule of the meeting.

Mr. Moon Jae-in is expected to deliver a keynote speech at the session on September 24. In addition, he will also attend bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and leaders from other countries.

Moon is expected to attend events to prepare for the P4G Summit and the Climate Action Conference. P4G stands for Partnership for Green Growth and the 2030 Global Goals.

Moon and Trump previously met in Seoul on June 30, after visiting the demilitarized zone (DMZ) together. The two leaders also had a brief meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at the truce village of Panmunjom.

Pyongyang and Washington are expected to restart North Korean nuclear talks in the coming weeks. Trump has also said he is willing to meet the North Korean leader at some point this year. Many experts predict that John Bolton's departure as National Security Advisor will have a positive impact on these negotiations.
