The Russian head of state quoted Einstein's maxim: "I do not know with what weapons the third world war will be fought, but the fourth world war will be fought with sticks and stones," - Mr. Putin said.
"The realization that the Third World War could end today's civilization should prevent us from taking extreme and extremely dangerous actions on the international stage for today's civilization," the Russian leader said.
He noted that after World War II "regional wars broke out here and there," but "global conflicts did not occur."
"Why? Because in the world, strategic priorities have been established between leading military powers. It may sound harsh, but I must tell you the truth: the fear of mutual destruction has always restrained participants in international communication and leading military powers from unexpected actions and forced them to respect each other," Putin stressed.
According toRussian President, the world needs new security models.
