President Trump delivers his first State of the Union address

Opening his speech, President Trump emphasized that 2017 was a year of "great success" with "significant progress" for the United States. He praised the heroes of the Navy who rescued flood victims and the strangers who were willing to act as human shields during the Las Vegas shooting.

Through that, the head of the White House sent a message: "To the people of Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, California who are still dealing with the consequences of natural disasters, and people across America, we will always be with you, we love you and we will overcome the challenge together. It will always be like that."

Currently, according to the update ofGuardian,Among the guests present at the US Congress were Vice President Mike Pence, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and several Democratic senators. Two advisers who are also President Trump's daughter and son-in-law, Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, were also present.

About 20 minutes before the State of the Union address, President Trump was also seen wearing a black suit and blue tie, getting into a limousine for the short trip from the White House to the Capitol or the US Congress. First Lady Melania was already at the Capitol.

The speech is scheduled to begin at 9:10 p.m. local time Tuesday, which is 9:10 a.m. Vietnam time.

The speech is expected to attract special attention as Mr. Trump is expected to address many important issues in this first State of the Union Address such as immigration, multilateral trade, national security and calls for unity.

President Trump’s guests at the event included first responders, military veterans, a welder from Ohio who benefited from recent tax cuts and the parents of children murdered by a Salvadoran street gang that the president has pledged to “eradicate.”

Lawmakers are also allowed to bring their own guests to Congress. DACA recipients, sexual assault survivors and gun violence survivors are expected to be on the guest list.

Meanwhile, some Democratic congressmen announced a "boycott" of the event to protest President Trump's previous controversial statements.
