During a meeting with supporters in Montana, US President Donald Trump declared that his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Helsinki (Finland) was one of the most valuable meetings of his life.
"One of the most valuable meetings in recent times was the conversation with Vladimir Putin. We had a perfect meeting, spent time discussing Ukraine, Syria, security concerns in Israel, and other great things," - quoted from President Trump's statement.
The US President said that analysts have accused him of being too friendly with the Russian President. "It seems like they want me to have a showdown on the stage" - President Trump said.
The head of the White House expressed regret and fear at such reactions from the US. Mr. Trump commented that if he appeared tough in the negotiations with President Putin, the other side would judge him as "too rigid". Thus, "this would become a shame for the country".
The summit between the leaders of Russia and the United States took place in Helsinki (Finland) on July 16. Russian President Putin highly appreciated the results achieved. However, he emphasized that no one can predict how the relationship between the two countries will develop and what issues will be resolved.
