"As part of bold diplomacy, we continue our historic push for peace on the Korean Peninsula. Americans once held hostage by North Korea have returned home. Nuclear weapons testing has stopped. And there has not been a missile launch in more than 15 months."
"If I had not been elected President of the United States, I believe we would right now be in a major war with North Korea with potentially millions of people killed. Much work remains to be done, but my relationship with Kim Jong-un is a very good one. Chairman Kim and I will meet again on February 27 and 28 in Vietnam."
CNN quoted a source familiar with the planning process for the summit as saying that the city to host the event is still under discussion, but it is likely to be Da Nang or Hanoi.
US State Department Special Representative for North Korea Steve Biegun will travel to Pyongyang tomorrow to discuss the details of the summit, including finalizing the city. Biegun will also ask the North Koreans to attend a series of high-level meetings between now and the summit.
