Responding to voters of Dien Chau district about upgrading the JICA irrigation canal system
(Baonghean.vn) - Voters of Dien Hanh commune, Dien Chau district reported that the JICA irrigation canal system through Dien Hanh commune has not yet been put into use. Dien Hanh commune does not benefit from this water source. We request the Provincial People's Committee to direct the handover of the canal system for irrigation and use.

The Project for Restoration and Upgrading of the Northern Nghe An Irrigation System (JICA 2) was implemented under the Loan Agreement No. VN12-P5 signed between JICA and the Government of Vietnam on March 22, 2013, in which Component 1 of the project was invested by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An, with the aim of ensuring stable irrigation for 27,656 hectares of agricultural land, creating water supply for 4 districts of Do Luong, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh and Quynh Luu; draining and reducing flooding for about 1,920 hectares of low-lying areas in 2 districts of Yen Thanh and Dien Chau, contributing to ensuring food and social security.
Up to now, Component 1 has basically been effective and highly appreciated by local people and authorities.

The JICA irrigation canal system through Dien Hanh commune belongs to the investment project to upgrade the N8 canal to Dien Hanh commune at K12, so there is a lot of loss. Moreover, the canal section from K0 to K2 has many collapsed sections. The canal wall in this section is built with rubble, so a lot of water leaks and is lost.
Currently, the investor has added a solution by pouring reinforced concrete to cover the canal wall of this section in the KN20 package to minimize water loss and raise the canal wall by 25cm to overcome the loss.
After completion, the investor will hand over the maintenance process to the operation management unit to ensure the best water supply.
