Solemn 83rd death anniversary of patriot Phan Boi Chau
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 12 (September 29, 2023 Lunar calendar), at the Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site in Nam Dan town, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An organized a flower and incense offering ceremony on the occasion of the 83rd death anniversary of patriot Phan Boi Chau.
Attending the ceremony were Major General Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Deputy Commander of Military Region 4 and members of the Party Executive Committee of Nghe An province: Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa - Director of the Department of Health.
Also attending were representatives of departments, agencies, Nam Dan district, Phan family council, representatives of the Board of Directors, teachers, students, and alumni of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Phan Boi Chau's real name was Phan Van San, his pen name was Sao Nam, born on December 26, 1867 in Sa Nam village, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province, in a patriotic Confucian family.
During his youth, Phan Van San was an intelligent and perceptive person. Witnessing the loss of his country, the destruction of his home, and the suffering of his people, Nho San developed a patriotic spirit and was determined to find a way to save his country.
With the policy of saving the country in a violent direction, Mr. Phan established Duy Tan Association, Viet Nam Quang Phuc Association and then Viet Nam Quoc Dan Dang to gather forces and ask for foreign aid. Most notably, the Dong Du movement created the foundation for the changes of the country in the early 20th century, contributing to the training of intellectuals ready to accept the path of proletarian revolution, and many of them later became key figures of the Vietnamese revolution.

In mid-1925, Phan Boi Chau was arrested by the French colonialists in Shanghai, brought back to Vietnam, and tried at the Hanoi Criminal Court. In response to the nationwide movement demanding Phan Boi Chau's release, he was sent to Hue for exile. As an old man of Ben Ngu, Phan Boi Chau was still filled with many hopes and feelings for the younger generation and for the success of the revolution.
On the morning of October 29, 1940, the 29th day of the 9th month of the Canh Thin year, Mr.Phan Boi Chaubreathed his last at the thatched house on Ben Ngu slope.

Not only a revolutionary, Phan Boi Chau was also a great poet and cultural figure. He left behind a huge poetic legacy with thousands of works. These poetic legacies contributed to adding color to the flower garden of Vietnamese literature in the early 20th century, arousing patriotism, national pride, and the spirit of persistent revolutionary struggle in all classes of people.

In a sacred and solemn atmosphere, delegates offered incense and fresh flower baskets to express their respect, gratitude and pride to their revolutionary predecessors, demonstrating the Vietnamese people's morality of remembering the source of water when drinking water./.
