Awarding ceremony for writing contest on innovation and improving the quality of trade union activities

On the morning of January 8, Nghe An Civil Servants' Trade Union held a conference to summarize union activities in 2019 and deploy key tasks in 2020. The Civil Servants' Trade Union currently has 63 grassroots trade unions, with a total of 4,621 members. 100% of civil servants and public employees have joined the trade union, while a number of seasonal and contract workers at agencies have not joined the union.

In 2019, Nghe An Civil Servants' Union continued to represent, care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members, civil servants, public employees and workers. Grassroots unions participated in and coordinated the implementation of grassroots democracy regulations; mobilized civil servants and public employees to participate in administrative reform; participated in implementing policies for union members and workers.

Grassroots unions have joined with professionals to fully and promptly implement the periodic salary increase regime for 1,393 people, raise salaries ahead of schedule for 308 people, and transfer salary scales for 79 people.

Taking care of the lives of union members and workers, grassroots unions have organized activities on the occasion of Workers' Month and Lunar New Year; mobilizing union members and workers to participate in social activities. Thanks to that, the "Union Shelter" fund in 2019 mobilized contributions of more than 77 million VND.

In addition, the work of developing union members and building a strong union organization is also of interest. In 2019, the Civil Servants' Union was classified as Excellent in its tasks; 13/63 grassroots unions were classified as Excellent in their tasks.

At the conference, a number of limitations in trade union work were pointed out, such as not meeting the target of organizing democratic conferences before January 15, 2019; the activities of the people's inspection committee at the grassroots level are still weak and unclear; the content of activities and organization of activities of some grassroots trade union executive committees are still monotonous...

Representatives of grassroots unions also actively discussed and shared experiences in practical union activities.

Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Chu Ba Long - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies Bloc highly appreciated the efforts of the Nghe An Civil Servants' Trade Union in the past year, evidenced by the outstanding achievements, being one of the 8 industry trade unions classified as excellent. He noted that grassroots trade unions need to increase sharing and learning from each other about lessons, methods, and good practices in trade union activities. Along with that, it is necessary to clearly recognize the causes of the existing problems and limitations, and propose solutions in the coming time.

Orienting a number of key tasks in 2020, the representative of the Party Committee of the Provincial Public Service Bloc suggested that the Nghe An Civil Servants' Trade Union should continue to pay attention so that the results of its activities are commensurate with its existing potential and strengths; closely follow the grassroots, overcome the situation where some grassroots trade unions operate ineffectively and have great inertia; promote the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; promote the exemplary spirit and self-awareness of cadres and union members; link trade union activities with the rights and interests of union members; pay attention to building solidarity and creating consensus in agencies and units to carry out political tasks...

On this occasion, Nghe An Civil Servants' Union also awarded the Writing Contest proposing solutions "Innovation, improving the quality of grassroots trade union activities, trade unions at higher levels" in the spirit of the Resolution of the 12th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union to 10 groups and 11 individuals. 6 groups and 17 individuals with outstanding achievements in trade union activities were also awarded Certificates of Merit by the Executive Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation.
