Busting a large gambling ring using lottery recording

On the morning of December 29, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Thinh - Deputy Head of Do Luong District Police said that the unit had just dismantled a gambling ring in the form of lottery recording, arrested 9 subjects, and seized evidence worth 185 million VND.

The ringleader of this ring is Vo Thi Van (born in 1963, residing in Block 5, Do Luong Town, Do Luong District). Van is described by neighbors as a gentle person, actively participating in local activities. However, in recent years, Van has shown signs of financial uncertainty and her behavior has changed a lot.

According to Do Luong District Police, although it has just started operating, the ring led by Van is very professional as all forms of transactions and exchanges are very secretive. The subjects only deliver and receive at a single time of the day, mainly via text messages or Zalo, Facebook. The delivery location is usually at a house with a closed gate and high walls, "no one can go in or out".

In all the gambling sessions, the subjects did not meet each other, only when the lottery results were available did they agree on a location to pay. Through verification and screening, the police force clearly identified the subjects who regularly played lottery with Van.

At around 6 p.m. on December 25, Do Luong District Police arrested and urgently searched the house of Hoang Van Tu (born in 1985, residing in Hamlet 3, Thai Son Commune, Do Luong), the subject who gambled in the form of lottery with Vo Thi Van. The seized evidence included 48,450,000 VND, 6 mobile phones, 12 lottery cables, and 10 lottery notebooks.

On December 26, the police force continued to arrest and urgently search Dao Cong Son (born in 1972, residing in Hamlet 2, Tan Son Commune); Dao Xuat Thai (born in 1979, residing in Hamlet 8, Tan Son Commune); Thai Khac Nam (born in 1968, residing in Hamlet 2, Thinh Son Commune); Nguyen Thi Thu (born in 1987, residing in Hamlet 2, Dong Son Commune); Nguyen Thi Lien (born in 1958, residing in Block 3, Do Luong Town) for gambling in the form of lottery tickets.

The police also summoned Nguyen Thi Huong (born in 1979, residing in Yen Huong, Yen Son) and Dau Van Hoi (born in 1959, residing in Hamlet 7, Dong Son Commune) to clarify the gambling behavior.

Total evidence seized in the case included 185 million VND and 9 mobile phones.

At the investigation agency, the subjects initially confessed to all their crimes. Currently, the District Police Investigation Agency is continuing to investigate and expand the case.
