Dismantling loan shark gang using petrol bombs to threaten debtors
A loan shark gang was caught red-handed throwing petrol bombs into debtors' homes to demand money at exorbitant interest rates.
On May 13, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Chau District, Tay Ninh Province issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Nguyen Quang Thai (27 years old) and Nguyen Van Thi (25 years old) - both residing in Viet Yen District, Bac Giang Province - for the act of lending money at high interest rates.
Regarding the incident, the police arrested Do Van Du (28 years old), Lam Quoc Bao (20 years old), Tran Van Anh (25 years old), Phan Truong Vu (16 years old) and Nguyen Thi Dinh (30 years old), all residing in Tan Chau district, to serve the investigation.
Previously, Tan Chau District Police discovered that the group was lending money at high interest rates, so they made a plan to eradicate it. On May 12, the district police deployed many secret teams and caught the group red-handed, holding homemade knives and throwing petrol bombs into Ms. NTH's house (residing in Tan Dong Commune, Tan Chau District) to threaten and force her to pay her debt.

Searching the residences of the above subjects, Tan Chau District Police seized 3 homemade knives, 2 glass bottles containing gasoline, 2 books storing information of borrowers, 20 loan contracts...
At the investigation agency, the subjects confessed that because they saw many people in Tan Chau district needing to borrow money for spending and business, from the beginning of October 2018, Thai, Dinh, Tinh, Thi, and Du colluded to lend money at an interest rate of 20%-30%/month. As of the date of arrest, this group had lent people over 2 billion VND, the amount of illegal interest earned was about 400 million VND.
During the lending process, when borrowers do not pay, they use force and homemade weapons to threaten and force them to write a debt acknowledgement including principal and interest.
