Eliminated online gambling ring worth 40 billion VND
On June 20, Quang Nam Provincial Police said that they had just dismantled an online football betting ring with a total amount of about 40 billion VND and were currently detaining 5 subjects for organizing gambling.
According to the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Nam Province, through professional activities, detectives discovered that in Dien Ban town and Duy Xuyen district, there were many large-scale soccer betting venues organized via the internet, attracting many gamblers to participate, with complicated methods of operation, affecting local social order.
Faced with the above situation, the Criminal Police Department has established a special project to focus on the fight.

After collecting evidence, at around 7:00 a.m. on June 16, the working groups of the Criminal Police Department, with the support of the Mobile Police force, detained 5 subjects in an emergency, including: Do Huynh (born in 1956), Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1973), both residing in Duy Trung commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam; Le Duy Quoc Chinh (born in 1981), Ngo Dung (born in 1976), both residing in Dien Phuong commune, Dien Ban town, Quang Nam and Tuong Van Thu (born in 1989, residing in Dien Hoa commune, Dien Ban town; temporarily residing in Nam Phuoc town, Duy Xuyen district).

The subjects were detained for the act of "Organizing gambling" via the internet. In addition, Quang Nam Provincial Police also summoned Huynh Hoai Bao (born in 1972, residing in Duy Thu commune, Duy Xuyen district) for questioning, and organized the verification of 4 other related subjects who are currently on the run from the locality; temporarily detained 25 million VND, 7 mobile phones, 1 car, and 1 laptop.
According to Quang Nam Provincial Police, this is a large-scale online soccer betting ring, attracting many gamblers to participate, with a closed operation method.
Conducting a fight against the subjects, combined with the collected documents, it was determined that the subjects organized football betting via the internet for many gamblers to participate from the end of May 2019 until being arrested, the betting amount of the subjects participating was about 40 billion VND.
Currently, Quang Nam Provincial Police are criminally detaining 5 subjects for organizing gambling, 1 subject for managing the business, continuing to fight and expand the project.
