Eliminate lottery line with transactions of 6 billion VND per month
The police have just successfully dismantled a gambling ring in the form of lottery trading with an operating scale of up to 6 billion VND per month.
On January 4, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police said that the unit had just eliminated and issued decisions to prosecute the case and order the temporary detention of 5 subjects inillegal gambling linein the form of large-scale lottery trading in the area.
The subjects prosecuted and detained for the act of "Gambling" include: Vo Thi Dieu (35 years old), Pham Thi Kim Ngan (33 years old), Nguyen Ngoc Thien (22 years old, all residing in Chau Thanh district) and Vo Van Toan (28 years old), Phan Thi Dieu Hien (36 years old), all residing in Chau Phu district.
Previously, on December 23, 2023, the Criminal Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police coordinated with professional units to simultaneously conduct emergency searches of 10 locations in Chau Phu and Chau Thanh districts; arrested 14 subjects who were gambling in the form of selling, delivering, and receiving lottery numbers.
Evidence seized at the scene included more than 650 million VND in cash, 16 mobile phones of various types, 2 CPUs and many other related evidences. Immediately after that, many related subjects surrendered to the police, confessing their violations.
According to the police, this lottery line has been operating since January, attracting many participants from inside and outside the province.
The method of operation of the subjects is to transfer lottery numbers via the social network Zalo, then transfer winnings and losses via bank accounts with an initial scale of operation determined to be about 6 billion VND/month.
The incident is being investigated and clarified.
