Kyodo quoted CNN as saying that US intelligence satellites have detected signs that North Korea may be preparing for an unprecedented ballistic missile launch, capable of reaching the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. |
CNN quoted two US officials as saying that satellite information showed the possibility that North Korea would launch a Musudan intermediate-range ballistic missile.
In addition, these officials also believe that North Korea may be preparing to launch the KN-08 - an intercontinental ballistic missile with a longer range, or an upgraded version of the KN-14 missile.
North Korea is well aware that US spy satellites are tracking its movements, and the move could be a false alarm designed to make Washington believe Pyongyang is preparing for action, the two officials said.
However, US Department of Defense spokesman Jeff Davis refused to comment on the above information./.
