The US presidential aide says she has no evidence to support allegations that Barack Obama wiretapped his successor Donald Trump.

"The answer is I don't have any evidence and I'm glad the House Intelligence Committee is investigating," Kellyanne Conway, an assistant to President Trump, said on ABC on March 13.

Conway was pressed to explain comments she made last weekend that appeared to suggest the Obama administration had wiretapped Trump on a large scale.

“What I can say is there are many ways to listen in on people,” Conway told the Bergen County Record on March 12. “You can track people through their phones, through their television systems, many ways. We know that’s a fact of modern life.”

Conway explained that she was referring to “surveillance in general,” not to the allegations that Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.

Obama, through his spokesman, denied President Trump's accusations. James Clapper, director of the NSA under Obama, insisted that Trump and his campaign were not wiretapped. However, the White House maintained its accusations, asking a congressional committee to investigate the Obama wiretapping allegations.

Senator John McCain yesterday asked President Trump to prove that he was wiretapped by his predecessor Obama, or else withdraw the accusation.
