Thieves 'visited' the house of the former District Secretary and stole more than 20 taels of gold

The former Secretary of Bac Tra My District and his wife recently discovered that all of their assets in their safe had "disappeared", including dozens of gold bars that their family had saved for many years.

On the morning of September 9, Quang Nam Provincial Police said they were investigating a theft case that occurred at the home of Mr. Huynh Tan Sam (residing in Tra My town, Bac Tra My district), former Provincial Party Committee member and former Secretary of Bac Tra My District Party Committee, Quang Nam province.

According to Mrs. Ho Thi Xuan Hong (Mr. Sam's wife), last June, she and her husband went on vacation in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province for a week. Afterwards, her daughter had some business in Tay Giang District, so she gave the house key to her niece, who calls Mr. Sam her aunt, and is currently studying at a college in Quang Nam.

When she returned home from a trip, she and her husband did not know that the family safe was missing. Later, when she opened the safe to get money to give to her son, she discovered that the safe had been unlocked and all the family's assets were taken.

Ms. Hong said she did not know how much gold was lost because over the past few decades, her family had saved it and put it in a safe without counting it. However, Ms. Hong confirmed that about 20 taels of gold in the safe had “evaporated.”

In addition, the couple's 180 million VND that they had just sold glue and put in the safe was also lost, and about 2,000 USD and some other assets "disappeared".

Quang Nam Provincial Police are currently investigating the case.
