"You know what this means? This could be the calm before the storm," CNBC quoted US President Donald Trump as saying yesterday while taking a photo with senior military leaders and generals before dinner at the White House.
When reporters asked whether the "storm" warning had anything to do with Iran or the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) militants, Mr. Trump replied: "We have the greatest military leaders in this room and we're going to have a great evening, thank you for coming."
Asked further about the "storm" reference, the US President stressed to reporters that "you'll find out" in the coming time, but did not reveal any further information about the future plans of the US military.
Mr. Trump's statement came as the US is considering withdrawing from the nuclear deal with Iran promoted by the administration of former President Barack Obama, as well as stepping up efforts to put pressure on North Korea's nuclear and missile programs with economic sanctions.
Mr. Trump has expressed hope that US military leaders will quickly submit military measures to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue if necessary.
"We will do whatever is necessary to prevent North Korea from threatening the United States and our allies," the US President stressed in a previous statement.
