Trump nominates Boeing Vice President as Deputy Secretary of Defense
The White House said US President Donald Trump has nominated Patrick Shanahan, a senior vice president at Boeing, to be deputy secretary of defense.

US President Donald Trump on March 16 announced his intention to nominate six people for key positions at the Pentagon, including Deputy Secretary of Defense and director of the Office of Budget Assessment and Evaluation (CAPE), USNI reported.
Patrick Shanahan has been nominated to be Deputy Secretary of Defense. He is Boeing's senior vice president of supply chain and operations, working on both the civilian and military sides of the company. Mr. Shanahan was vice president and general manager of Boeing Missile Defense Systems, participating in the V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft project.
Pentagon spokesman Jeff Davis said Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work will continue in his position until Mr. Shanahan's nomination is confirmed.
Robert Daigle has been nominated to head CAPE, a key player in the U.S. military’s procurement efforts, providing independent analysis of weapons costs and capabilities before major contracts. Daigle is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and a former Army officer.
