US President Donald Trump used the word "pathetic human being" to describe former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault-Newman, who in her newly published book called the US leader a "racist" and "mentally ill" - as reported by USA Today.

Trump made the statement at a biker rally in Bedminster. According to the newspaper, when asked about Manigault-Newman and her book, Trump replied: "Pathetic. She's a pathetic person."

Previously, the public learned another rather shocking detail from the book. Manigault-Newman wrote that in 2017 she saw Trump chew and swallow a piece of paper after meeting with his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, in the Oval Office. White House staff did not confirm the author's claim.

In the White House, Omarosa Manigault-Newman served as Assistant to the President and Communications Director. She was the only African American in the President's administration. At the time of her firing, both Trump and White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders wished Manigault-Newman well and thanked her for her work. However, reports emerged that Omarosa Manigault-Newman was almost ousted from the White House.
