Mr. Trump is unhappy with the way the travel restrictions have been implemented, especially the backlash caused by poor communication from the White House with key agencies and members of Congress,CNN today quoted several anonymous sources from the White House.
Accordingly, the travel restriction order, mainly due toStephen Miller,The president's policy adviser, he wrote, was being pushed too quickly without being sent to those who could help execute it neatly. The immigration restriction order was judged not to be wrong, but "too unreasonable" and "too ambitious".
White House officials say they do not blameSean Spicer, the White House spokesman, for the uproar after the immigration ban. Instead, it was a reminder that there was a need for a new staffer focused on the communications campaign. Mr. Spicer took over as communications director after the nomineeJason Miller withdrew.
President Trump also agreed that having more people in charge of the media was necessary, after following the news and observing the reactions to him and the White House.
To fix this, heReince Priebus,The White House chief of staff will now have more control over systems related to issues like executive orders.
Meanwhile, sheKellyanne Conway, White House counselor, is expected to have more authority over communications strategy. It is not clear whether Ms. Conway will take on the official title of communications director or just take responsibility for this issue.
