Trump 'furious' over poll results
President Trump said that all news agencies that publish polls showing that more American voters oppose him than support him are 'fake news'.
As usual, Mr. Trump took to his Twitter account to post a series of statuses criticizing polls that show a majority of American voters oppose his decree. The new US President said that “any negative poll is fake news.”

In a tweet posted on February 6 from his private villa in Mar-a-Lago (Palm Beach, Florida, USA), Mr. Trump wrote: “Sorry, the people want border security and extremely strict screening measures.” Like all of President Trump’s early morning tweets, these words were to refute a series of unfavorable news that the American media has brought about him.
Earlier, MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program discussed a recent CNN/ORC poll showing that 53% of American adults oppose Trump's executive order on immigration while only 47% expressed support for the order.
President Trump compared such polls to polls on the eve of the November 8, 2016 election, which showed his approval rating falling 2% to 4% behind his opponent Hillary Clinton.
However, in reality, these polls were mostly correct because Mr. Trump won the Electoral College while losing to Mrs. Clinton by about 2.9 million popular votes, equivalent to about 2.1% of voters.
On the eve of his inauguration, Mr. Trump also criticized several other public opinion polls that said he was the least popular president-elect in the US in the past 40 years.
Not only CNN, which is considered by Mr. Trump and his supporters as a news channel "following" Mrs. Clinton and the Democratic Party, two other public opinion polls across the United States released on February 3 also showed that the majority of people in this country do not approve of Mr. Trump's immigration ban.
According to a CBS poll, 51% of Americans oppose Mr. Trump's ban on citizens of seven Muslim countries including Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from entering the US for 90 days, and only 45% support it.
A similar independent poll by Gallup, a leading market research company in the US, also found that 55% of Americans disapprove of the President's immigration decree while only 42% support it. Gallup's poll also asked about the border wall with Mexico and found that 60% of Americans oppose President Trump's plan to build it, one and a half times higher than the 38% who support it.
In addition to banning citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the country, Trump’s executive order on immigration also bars all refugees from entering the US for 120 days and indefinitely suspends the admission of Syrian refugees. This order has caused some visa holders to be detained upon entry and sparked a wave of protests that spread across many US states.
It was not until this past weekend, when a federal judge ruled to suspend President Trump's immigration ban, that the Department of Homeland Security complied with the ruling and temporarily halted implementation of Mr. Trump's decree./.
