Are eggs with two yolks really nutritious?
On the market, eggs with two yolks are not uncommon for consumers. They are advertised as containing more nutrients than regular eggs, so they are sold at a higher price.
However, according to experts, eggs with one or two yolks have the same nutritional value. Eating too many egg yolks should be avoided as it may be harmful to the body.
"It's normal for chickens to lay eggs with double yolks."
According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Vang, former Director of the National Institute of Animal Husbandry, this phenomenon can occur in both domestic and industrial chickens. Mr. Vang explains that the egg-laying process in chickens depends on many factors such as species, breed, age, physiological state, individual characteristics, environmental conditions, feeding practices, the impact of light, feed, water, and especially the protein content in the feed. Furthermore, sometimes a chicken may release two eggs (similar to twins in humans), but this is more common in poultry. Therefore, chickens laying eggs with two yolks is normal.

You shouldn't eat more than 3 egg yolks a week.
It is precisely because of the "two-in-one" combination of this "special" egg that many housewives are talking about and spreading rumors about its nutritional value. Many people believe that, because it has two yolks, its nutritional value must be higher than that of single-yolk eggs (?!).
Regarding the nutritional content of these double-yolk eggs, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Lam - Deputy Director of the National Institute of Nutrition, stated that double-yolk chicken eggs actually have the same nutritional value as single-yolk eggs. While a normal egg has a yolk of 40%, with the rest being the egg white and shell, the basic ratio in a double-yolk egg is similar. A normal egg weighs 50-60g, while a double-yolk egg can weigh up to 80g. The higher price is simply determined by the egg's weight.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Lam, eggs are considered a very good food. An egg is essentially a cell, therefore it contains almost all the nutrients necessary for the body, including essential amino acids that the body cannot synthesize on its own. However, because of these advantages, many people often overconsume eggs, which can inadvertently harm the body, especially eating too many egg yolks over a long period!
Analysts say that egg yolks contain a significant amount of fat and cholesterol. The human body should not absorb more than 300 mg of cholesterol per day. Therefore, eating just two egg yolks every morning already far exceeds the recommended daily cholesterol intake, not to mention other food sources in daily meals.
Therefore, it's best not to eat more than 3 egg yolks per week. Egg whites contain no fat or cholesterol but help with muscle development, so eating more is fine.
